People Walking On Drone Made Bridge – Latest Major Inventions

We are living in an era of ever-growing cosmopolitan high-rising construction and complex structure formation across the world. Some of them are landmarks themselves like ‘Burj Khalifa’ in Dubai. We often cherish saying what we have achieved, looking at these mammoth structures however seldom we ask what went behind building these giants, what we lost when lives of construction men were sacrificed while performing high altitude dangerous construction tasks. The invention we are going to talk about probably can reduce the rate of losing life at difficult construction activities.

Apart from logistics and deliveries innovation of drones has got quite popular as a great possibility of Automation at construction activities especially difficult to reach areas or at high altitude. Few days back we wrote about a similar Drone developed by Sony with unique features >> Click here to read more and watch the video

As a unique solution to the ever existing issue University researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich have designed a fleet of drones that can work together to create structures strong enough for someone to walk across. They called i a bridge.  The bridge they built was about 7.4 mete across, and could actually support the weight of a person walking across it.

The quad copters were able to measure the distance between the two sets of scaffolding and figure out how to build the bridge, without human intervention. The drones had motorized spools attached to them, which allowed them to loop, braid and knot ropes together to build the bridge.

This discovery will surely have a great impact in the construction segment especially to those situations where sending humans might risk a lives. “Flying machines offer a number of advantages compared to traditional construction machines,” researchers said on ETH Zurich’s. “Specifically, they can reach any point in space and fly in or around existing objects.”

So, once again proving, that we are taking every foot step heading towards an era where robots perform the complex job with a set of instruction given to them. It’s again a gift of complex artificial intelligence which one of the very effective evolving science at today’s date.

We pray for all those brave people who lost their lives during difficult construction job across the world.

“We could not offer you a safer way of doing your job then, but now we have these drones to offer, hope you guys like it”
